Question: Which company developed the first commercial antivirus software?
Answer: McAfee (originally McAfee Associates)
John McAfee, a British-American programmer and entrepreneur founded the company in 1987. At the time, computer viruses were becoming more than just curiosities—they were starting to pose real threats to businesses and personal computers alike.
John McAfee recognized the growing need for protective software and launched "VirusScan." It was the first widely distributed antivirus product sold to the public and paved the way for the antivirus industry.
Why "Dooley?"
Inspired by the founder's alma mater - Emory University's spirit mascot, Dooley represents the voice of the student body. And when Dooley shows up to your class, you can count on a fun time and the rest of the day off!
