Apple Pippin

Question: What failed gaming console did Apple launch in the mid-1990s?

Answer: Apple Pippin.

It was intended to be a low-cost computer system for playing CD-based multimedia software, including games. The Pippin was priced around $599–$800, making it far more expensive than the Sony PlayStation and Nintendo 64 at the time. It also lacked a strong library of games, had limited hardware capabilities, and suffered from unclear marketing.

Only about 42,000 units were sold worldwide before it was quietly discontinued in 1997. Today, the Apple Pippin is often cited as one of the company’s biggest hardware flops.

Why "Dooley?"

Inspired by the founder's alma mater - Emory University's spirit mascot, Dooley represents the voice of the student body. And when Dooley shows up to your class, you can count on a fun time and the rest of the day off!
